Fist of all, you must estimate appearance of a flower. It shouldn't be damaged or beaten. There should be no smudges or microcracks on petals. Try to choose roses with buds are opened on half or on two third (it depends on a grade). This rule can be applied practically to all flowers. The bud should be dense and not too soft. Perhaps, the most obvious sign of freshness of a rose are leaflets which grow at the basis of a bud. If they are directed upwards or even better really "embrace" a bud – a rose is fresh. If they are directed downwards – such rose is on sale some days. The most awful when they are pressed to a stalk, it means that the rose is not fresh and can withers right after purchase.

It is important not only to choose beautiful fresh roses, but to know how to keep it alive. The most simple way is to put flowers in a vase. Before doing it, you need to process them correctly. Don't put a rose in a vase in packing, it serves only for careful rose delivery to Ukraine or other countries. Rose need to be smoothed out from below on one third or half from all leaves. Also you must clean all damaged leaves and petals. By the way, if you have found out that the roses you have been sold were not processed, do not forget about shop where you purchased roses. It is a sign of disrespect for clients. It is very important to remove claret shoots immediately. They take away many useful substances. You must make a new cut of a stalk. It is better to do a cut by a knife, instead of secateurs. The cut obliquely (under 45 degrees) allows not to press capillaries in a stalk. It is possible to put a rose in a vase differently. Read recommendations about water temperature and its quantity. Don't clear a rose completely, after all leaflets often look beautiful. Fill a vase half or on one third but so that all leaves were over water. Otherwise, the foliage will decay. Put roses in warm water, about 40 degrees on Celsius. Ask in shop about special top dressing for flower. Change water each two-three days. Never store flowers near to fruit and vegetables. When changing water, don't forget to wash a vase. Before putting flowers in a vase you must wash it. If roses were without water for a long time and if they already started to fade you could try to reanimate them. You must boil water and pour it in a vase on 3-4 centimeters. Then wrap up foliage and buds by a paper or a fabric. Make a new cut of a stalk and put flowers in boiled water. Leave flowers in boiled water until it won't cool down. Then cut off the burned ends of stalks and put flowers in hot water with temperature at 50-60.
