L?neburg: from its first mention to today

The earliest written record of L?neburg is a deed of Otto I dated 13 August 956, granting the town's toll to the monastery of St Michael. After Henry the Lion destroyed neighbouring Bardowick in 1189, L?neburg received town rights and became the region's main trading post.
