Germans love flowers but follow a few unwritten rules. Keep them in mind and your bouquet will be received exactly as intended.
| Date | Occasion | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| 14 February | Valentine's Day (Valentinstag) | order 2–3 days ahead, florists are overloaded |
| 8 March | International Women's Day | a public holiday in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, so delays are possible; 7 March is safer |
| Second Sunday of May | Mother's Day (Muttertag) | same date as in the US and Ukraine; Sunday delays are possible, so many choose Saturday |
| Easter | Ostern | Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays, delays are possible |
| 24 December | Christmas Eve (Heiligabend) | the main Christmas celebration in Germany; 25–26 December are holidays |
The favourites are roses (single-variety and spray), hydrangeas, tulips in spring and peonies in season. For anniversaries or colleagues, boxed arrangements and baskets work well, and you can add chocolates, fruit or a soft toy to make the gift complete.
Delivery to most cities costs 391 UAH on top of the bouquet price. A few remote towns have a higher rate, shown on the city page.
