Sveti Vlas: a short history

The first settlement here was founded by Thracians, and Greek colonists of the Hellenistic period called it Larissa. In the 14th century it took the name of Saint Blaise after a large monastery that stood until the 18th century; remains of old monasteries can still be seen nearby.
