What to know about Berezanka

Berezanka grew out of a German colony: in 1866, 32 settlers from the colonies near Odesa bought 3,337 desiatinas of land and founded Alexanderfeld on the left bank of the Sasyk, first recorded in 1876. From 1879 it was a volost centre with a Lutheran prayer house, a school, a steam mill and weekly markets. In 1914 it was renamed Suvorove, and in 1933–1965 it was called Tylihulo-Berezanka. In 1964 it merged with Adamivka (founded 1797), Vilne and Malyshi, becoming an urban-type settlement in 1966.
