The core of old Boiarka is the Budaivka hillfort from the Kyivan Rus era, now crowned by St. Michael's Church and protected by the state. The village of Budaivka appears in documents from the early 16th century, and in 1586 King Stephen B?thory returned its lands to the Kyiv Pechersk Monastery. A new chapter began in 1870 with Boiarka station on the Kyiv–Fastiv railway: the dacha settlement around it merged with Budaivka, and from the 1880s the area was known as a climatic resort for lung patients. In November–December 1918 the former orphanage, now School No. 2, housed the headquarters of the Sich Riflemen's Siege Corps. Boiarka became a town on 30 December 1956.
Colonel Yevhen Konovalets (1891–1938), first head of the OUN, set up the Sich Riflemen's headquarters here, marked by a bas-relief on School No. 2. Composer Mykola Lysenko wrote part of the opera "Taras Bulba" in Boiarka, Sholem Aleichem worked on "Tevye the Dairyman" here and immortalised the town as Boiberik, and poet Volodymyr Samiilenko was buried by St. Michael's Church in 1925. Human rights defender Oleksandra Matviichuk, head of the Center for Civil Liberties, which received the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize, was born here.
The town lies on the Prytvarka River, split by the railway into the historic south-eastern part and Nova Boiarka, and is surrounded by large forests. Local landmarks include St. Michael's Church (1901), the K-15776 "Kukushka" steam locomotive, the Boiarka Local History Museum, Victory Park and Shevchenko Park; every year the town hosts the "Boiarka 24" cycling marathon. Our courier will bring flowers to any part of Boiarka.
Flowers travel from Kyiv to Boiarka along the Odesa highway (M-05), so the courier easily reaches both halves of the town divided by the railway.
