What to know about Chubynske

Chubynske is a young village with a meaningful name. In the mid-19th century the Malko, Bondariev and Yatsiutyn farmsteads stood here; until 1934 the place was called the Nansen colony, and from 1934 to 1992 Nova Oleksandrivka. Large-scale building began in the 1970s, and by the end of the 20th century the village had 293 households and over 1,100 residents. In 1992 it was renamed after Pavlo Chubynskyi, and in 1999 the government included the restoration of the Chubynskyi estate in the national programme for recreating historic monuments.

A name linked to Chubynske

Pavlo Chubynskyi (1839–1884), ethnographer, folklorist, poet and author of the lyrics of Ukraine's national anthem, was born nearby at the Chubynskyi farmstead, now within Boryspil.

The village lies on the left bank of the Dnipro, 4 km from Boryspil and 12 km from Boryspilska metro station, next to the E40 highway. Key places are the Khutir Chubynskoho landscape reserve with a memorial sign, the chapel of St Pavlo the Obedient and the Second World War memorial.
