What to know about Domanivka

Domanivka grew up in the early 19th century on the site of the small Khudobashiv farmstead and takes its name from the Domanetsky landowners, who were granted land here in the late 18th century. Locals farmed, raised livestock and worked as chumak traders, while carpenters, blacksmiths and tailors served the weekly market. A zemstvo school opened in 1890, and in 1935 the village gained an aero club and a gliding school. Domanivka became a district centre in 1924 and an urban-type settlement in 1956; it was liberated on 28 March 1944.

Notable people

Domanivka is the birthplace of economist Serhii Dorohuntsov, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and of mining engineer V. Klochkov, Doctor of Technical Sciences.

Domanivka today

The settlement lies on the Chortala River, a tributary of the Southern Bug, 45 km from Voznesensk railway station. The Domanivka History Museum occupies the former Domanetsky manor house from the second half of the 19th century, and memorials honour the soldiers of the Second World War and M. Hulianytskyi, a participant of the 1918–1920 fighting. Bronze Age burials and Scythian mounds have been found nearby. Order from anywhere in the world and we will hand the bouquet over in Domanivka.
