A short history of Horodenka

Horodenka is known from 1195 as a settlement of farmers and craftsmen. Its residents took part in Mukha's uprising of 1490–1492, and in 1668 the Polish king granted the town Magdeburg rights. It is the historic centre of Pokuttia, where Pokuttia, Bukovina and Podillia meet.
