Khorostkiv: from its first record to today

Khorostkiv is known since 1340 and was mentioned as a small town in 1565, when it received a royal privilege and belonged to the Stru? family. In the early 1600s the new owners, the Kalinowski family, built a castle, and in 1646 Hetman Marcin Kalinowski gave the town to his son Samuel Jerzy. By the late 18th century Khorostkiv was a trading centre with fairs twice a year; the Ternopil–Kopychyntsi railway reached it in 1890, and it became a town on 1 April 1934.
