Kosiv: from its first mention to today
Kosiv is first recorded in a 1424 charter of Grand Duke ?vitrigaila. In 1565 starost T?czy?ski founded the nearby town of Rukiv, which later re-emerged as Kosiv. It passed to Austria in 1772, became a district town in 1867, and in 1891 doctor Apolinary Tarnawski opened a health resort here.
