Solonytsivka: from the first record to today

Solonytsivka grew out of the 17th-century khutir of Sinolytsivka, founded by settlers from Right-Bank Ukraine; 1662 is regarded as the date of its first mention. On 28 April 1663 Hryhorii Donets-Zakharzhevskyi founded the nearby Kuriazh Monastery. In the 1750s–1760s the sloboda belonged to the Peresichna company, and its parishioners built the wooden St Nicholas Church. The village of Havrylivka was merged into Solonytsivka in 1980, and in 2024 the former urban-type settlement became a selyshche.

Names linked to Solonytsivka

In 1926 the Gorky labour colony headed by educator Anton Makarenko moved to Kuriazh, into the former Kuriazh Monastery. Researcher, writer and teacher Mykola Rudko (1925–1973) is listed among the town's natives and residents.

Places every local knows

The settlement lies mostly on the left bank of the Uda, with the Kuriazh River crossing its eastern part; traces of Scythian-era, Chernyakhiv and Saltiv settlements have been found nearby. Its best-known site is the National Museum of the Military History of Slobozhanshchyna on Height 197.3, with T-34-85 and T-70 tanks on display, and the Church of the Dormition was built in 2004. Kuriazh and Shpakivka railway stations serve the town, and Kharkiv is about 15 minutes away by bus. Our courier will bring flowers to any address in Solonytsivka.
