What to know about Teplodar

Teplodar is one of the youngest towns in Odesa Oblast. The site for a settlement of builders of the Odesa nuclear combined heat and power plant was approved on 1 August 1980, and the settlement was named Teplodar on 2 February 1983. By May 1983, 47 organisations and 2,775 people worked on the plant and in the settlement. After the Chornobyl disaster, checks found landslide risk and karst cavities at the site: work was frozen in the late 1980s and stopped completely in 1997. On 17 July of that year Teplodar became a town of regional significance.
