Terebovlia, a town with chronicle history

Terebovlia's recorded story begins in 1097, when the Primary Chronicle tells how the Council of Liubech confirmed the Terebovlia domain to Prince Vasylko Rostyslavych, its first prince. In 1389 King Jogaila granted the town Magdeburg rights. In 1675 a small garrison and the townspeople beat off a Turkish siege, inspired by Zofia Chrzanowska. In 1896 the Ternopil–Kopychyntsi railway opened with a station in Terebovlia.

Notable people of Terebovlia

The best-known name is Prince Vasylko Rostyslavych (1067–1124), a participant of the Council of Liubech, whose monument was unveiled here in 1997. Actress Hanna Yurchakova (1879–1965) and singer Viktor Pavlik (b. 1965) were born in the town.
