A short history of Truskavets

The first written record of Truskavets is a document from 1469. In 1578 royal physician Wojciech Oczko described the healing properties of local waters, and a spa opened in 1827, the year regarded as the resort's founding. In 1836 pharmacist Teodor Torosiewicz named the water from the Nafta spring Naftusya. Between the world wars Truskavets was one of Poland's most popular resorts.

Famous residents

People's Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Bilas (1924–2016), a master of decorative textiles, lived and worked here and became an honorary citizen; an art museum in his name opened in 1992.
