Flowers in Valky delivered to a home or office: roses, hydrangeas, flower boxes and bouquets for any occasion. The greeting card is free.
Valky first appears in writing in the "Book of the Great Map" of 1627, and its name comes from the word "valok", a small rampart. On 21 May 1646 the Belgorod voivode Khilkov began building a fort on the restored Perekip Rampart, which cut across the Muravskyi Trail. In 1665 the town was moved to the left bank of the Turushka where it meets the Mzha, its present site. Valky was a company town of the Kharkiv Cossack Regiment, became a district town in April 1780, and in spring 1920 was the centre of a large peasant uprising against the Bolsheviks.
Valky is the birthplace of the writer Petro Panch (1891–1978), who portrayed the town in his novel "On the Viburnum Bridge", the bass singer Mykola Chastii (1905–1962), People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, and the sculptor Andrii Darahan (1902–1987). The philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda (1722–1794) visited the town, and the poet Pavlo Hrabovskyi (1864–1902) served here as a soldier. Valky honours its native Senior Lieutenant Andrii Olkhovskyi, an ATO veteran killed on 29 August 2014, with a memorial plaque.
The town lies on the Mzha and its tributary the Turushka, on the M03 Kharkiv–Kyiv highway, 55 km from Kharkiv. Landmarks include the Pavlo Hrabovskyi monument, the Valky Local History Museum, the Hryhorii Skovoroda memorial sign, the Didova Dolyna memorial and the Monument to the Defenders of Ukraine. The town is known for the Valky clay whistle: in 2021, 375 people set a national record here by whistling at once. Valky hosts the Valkivska Toloka folk festival and belongs to the League of Historic Towns of Ukraine. A courier will bring a bouquet to any part of Valky.
