What to know about Vyshneve

Vyshneve is a young town that grew out of a railway station. In 1887, when the South-Western Railway line to Fastiv was laid through lakes along the Zhelian River, a wooden station called Zhuliany was built here; its first permanent resident, postal clerk Tymofii Olyfyrko, settled on Pushkinska Street in 1912. On 15 February 1958 the station settlement was registered as Vyshneve, in 1960 it became an urban-type settlement, and after a 1963 decision to move Kyiv factories here it turned into the capital's industrial zone. Vyshneve received town status in 1971.

Names linked to Vyshneve

Locals follow swimmer Yuliia Chumak (born 1996), a world record holder and European champion. The town is also linked to maths textbook author Oleksandr Ister and the rock band Farbovanyi Lys.

Vyshneve today

Vyshneve is a south-western suburb of Kyiv on the Kyiv-Volynskyi – Fastiv I railway line. Its main green space is Central Park with Orion Lake and a fountain, close to the Nebesna Varta square, the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Seeker of the Perishing" and the station building.
