Velykyi Bereznyi in brief
Velykyi Bereznyi is first recorded in 1409, and in 1427 it appeared in tax rolls as a Drugeth estate. In 1703 local insurgents took part in the siege of Uzhhorod Castle during R?k?czi's War of Independence. It received market-town privileges in 1778, and the Uzhhorod–Velykyi Bereznyi railway opened in 1897. It became an urban-type settlement in 1947 and a settlement in 2024.

The settlement lies on the right bank of the Uzh River next to Uzhanskyi National Nature Park, with mineral springs nearby. Landmarks include the Holy Trinity Church (1792), the Roman Catholic church (1778), the local history museum and the former synagogue, now a house of culture.
